Yes, there are only FIVE slots and sometimes essential plants like Lily Pad are missing to provide a "challenge". Plants are not unlocked, they are simply pre-placed in your five slots for each level. The game has three worlds (Lawn, Camp, Volcano) it kind of jumps between them so I only call them "worlds" tentatively. I will cover these later but I can say that there are already levels in this small demo that are impossible without powerups. I expect that if and when the game fully releases, there will be hundreds of levels with increasingly absurd difficulty, typical of the puzzle format. You have five regenerating lives, one is lost upon losing a level, and I believe there is a difficulty-ramping system that makes the game harder for each level you win consecutively without losing.
The game is in the structure of a typical mobile puzzle game. Unfortunately this is pretty much where the good stuff ends and honestly the bare minimum amount of polish that the game should've released with the first time. The game also looks much better which is to be expected. It is pretty hard to tell what features are implemented just for the soft launch but I'll just judge the game in its current state.įor starters, the game is back in landscape and sun economy has been re-implemented, this is great. I didn't play the first beta but it has been completely reworked so that doesn't matter. After playing through the current game (50 levels) here are my thoughts.
